A card you need to show all the time

The access card is the thing you use most often and lose most easily. The badge reel solves this: the card stays attached to your clothes while the cord is pulled out to the card reader and then retracts by itself. The card never leaves you — that is the whole point, and the reason this small product is standard in workplaces where doors, medicine cabinets and computers are opened with a card several times an hour.

The designs are taken from healthcare's own imagery: organs, scrub top, thermometer, medical bag. They act as a small professional marker, and also make it easier to tell your reel apart from your colleagues' in a team where everyone carries the same card.

Where it goes

Placement decides whether the badge reel works. If it sits too low, the cord will not reach a card reader at shoulder height; if it sits on a garment you take off on the ward, you will have to move it several times per shift. Most people attach it to the breast pocket or the edge of the scrub top, on the same side as the hand that holds the card.

In a team where everyone has identical cards, the design does an extra job: the reel is how you see that the card on the table is yours. It is also why the designs here differ clearly from one another instead of being variations of the same image.

What is included in terms of clip or card sleeve is stated on each product page — if your workplace already has a card sleeve, you usually only need the reel itself.
